Fluid Forms

Fluid Forms
Water. Its flowing movements give form to all life. As the vital element of circulation in the body and on planet Earth, it leaves its mark everywhere. From the swirls of our fingertips and the spiralled structures of bone, to the spinning vortex of the universe, this ‘fluid choreography’ carries a bio-intelligence that sequences and sustains all life. In this series of four classes our inquiry will focus on water as a living metaphor of the fluid processes of the soma — how we give attention within and to the surrounding environment, as we dive into the waters of our being. In emulating and joining with flowing movements we ‘become the water’ and discover its unique properties. There will be opportunities for dialogue and enlivening our fluid systems as we dive together and come to embody the ancient wisdom of water.
Wk 1 - wave motion, undulating movements of life
Wk 2 - branching and meandering, motifs of circulatory systems
Wk 3 - spirals, eddies and whirlpools, pulsating, rhythmical movements
Wk 4 - pools, basins and delta regions - fertile fields of transformation
“Through the fluid system the history of our planet is recorded — the flowing life that allows the flourishing of nutrients is in every part of us, the river of richness in which our origin as water is kept preciously in its watery secrets.” ~ Emilie Conrad
